It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Life Member Neal Abrams on May 15, 2026.

Neal joined the department in 1988 and rose through the ranks to the position of EMS Captain. In 1992, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems for his dedication to emergency medical services and for generously sharing his skills, time, and enthusiasm with the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department.

Neal was a valued and respected member of our community whose commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. He will be deeply missed, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
